The Joy of being a mom

Some days I wake up with a smile on my face as I realize I'm a mom. Then come others when the alarm clock goes off and I just want to roll over and go back to sleep!

Friday was one of the those good/bad days. It all started when I had to haul three kids to school a half hour early for a meeting I had to attend about swine flu. The kids were pretty good about missing that extra 15 minutes of cartoons. And I've learned that that I'm was right and the h1n1 flu pandemic is over rated. Bored news people... I'm all for sharing but come on ... Wells lets keep our germs to ourselves and only 8 school days left to worry about mass germ spreading.

...

... never in my life did I ever imagine that I would sew for a fashion show ...but now I have...for the past several days, nights and early mornings I've been helping my friend finish sewing her outfits for her final project... It was amazing and crazy and exhausting... she stretched her abilities to the limits...and in the end ... even though everything wasn't perfect... she won the award for most creative designs... IT WAS AWESOME to see something I had help sew be apart of the Raw Couture...

(... dedicated to Andrea! Thanks for letting me help!)

Picture Tag

Go Utes!
Thanks MJ!

How appropriate for the March Madness. Another cool thing is that yesterday aka Sunday I went to a youth fireside featuring 3 Ute football players... Learned a cool way to look a the gospel. One dude, can't remember his name (Sorry George!) but he played at the Fiesta Bowl and now is the safety coach and has something to do with recruiting... talked about how he studied the opposition over and over to find how well they were in their fundamentals and their strengths and weaknesses and likened it to Satan and how he imagines that he is studying our strengths and weakness and how we are doing in the fundamentals! I think he's right on in his assumption.
Well thanks for reading! Now, go forth and post your 4th picture from your 4th file.

I believe.....

that the Son and the sun are the center of my world.

that I am a diamond in the rough. Unfortunately, there is a lot more polishing left.

that I can make a difference in this world if I could just stop stumbling and making mistakes on the way!

that being a wife is the best thing that has ever happened to me and I'm glad I'm done shopping.

that being a mother is the 2nd best (because marriage before the baby carriage is the best way) and is one of my greatest challenges and joys.

that I need to learn how to be a better friend.

that I need to serve more willingly.

most importantly and is now a known truth that I'm a child of God.

Kodak Moments of the Heart

It always seems that I'm wishing I had brought my camera or I catch the moment right before or after instead of the one I was trying to capture!

I had one of those moments on Monday night on our way home from our Family Home Evening activity. At our home, the activity is the popular FHE assignment; this week it was Henry's turn to select the activity.. After spending about an hour Ice skating, wall climbing and dance revolutioning(?) we headed home to have our ice cream treats. All three of the kid-os were buckled right next to each other. Usually this causes contention and much "_____ is touching me!" This evening there was a very different noise coming from the back seat. The laughs and giggles were happy and kind. The best best part came when I heard "Mom look at us!" I turned around I saw my kids with their arms wrapped around each other declaring "we're family!"

When I close my eyes I see their smiling faces with arms wrapped around each other and hear their sweet voice declaring each other family. I will forever tuck that Kodak moment in heart and pull it out to remind me how blessed I am to have such beautiful children even though they don't always show it!

Ode to Valentines Day

Someone I have loved with all my heart and soul....

Of course is my wonderful husband and sweetheart George!

He is my strength and my joy! Most of all he is the brain of this operation! I think he is brilliant. I am grateful that we are married for eternity. Thank you George for nearly 12 years of great fun, joy, sorrow and love. Thank you for sticking with me through it all!

Moody Teenagers

Boy am frightened for the day when my cute little people turn into "TEENAGERS" Which then makes me wonder how moody of a teenager was I?

We are Currently in the tweeny bopper stage (10-12) with Henry and I'm already seeing glimpses of greatness and great moodiness! I believe that he will be an amazing man-that's if I don't make too big of a mess.

The princess Ann has always been emotional so we'll just keep riding that roller coaster! She is going to be one force of woman! WOW! Boys watch out.

The Douglas..verdict is still out. Some days, I think that it is just hard being four and ready to move on to the next big thing-aka Kindergarten.

Back to the moody teenagers... I am the 1st Counselor in the Young Women's Presidency of my Ward. I have this amazing group of girls. Most days, things are wonderful but every once in a while...
I can only imagine the trials these ladies have to face. I remember the difficulty of trying to find where you fit, wanting to be cool, wanting to be grown up but still a little girl and topping it off with all the lovely hormones!

So here is my plea for help. If any of you readers have any advice please send it my way. Here is my second and greatest plea please send prayers the direction of the younger generations of this world and their parents. We need all the heavenly blessings we can get!
